I know most everyone is ready for fall, but I’m totally not. I think summer went by way too fast and even though it’s been super hot all I can think of is how freakin’ cold, snowy and icy it was last winter and I’m soooo not ready for that again!
After Drew and I came home from Lake Michigan this summer neither of us wanted to sit around the house. Picking a project was easy because the front yard looked like a hot mess. The first project was the front porch.
Here’s what the front porch looked like this spring.
Ahhh…look at how pretty the fern, flowers and topiaries are! Well that lasted about 5 minutes!
Don’t believe me? This is what the front porch looked like before our little end of summer makeover.
It has been so sunny and hot that my topiaries and wreath burnt to a crisp. Here’s the crazy thing, the wreath isn’t even real, how it looks dead I have no idea!
I didn’t want to spend any money, I mean it’s the end of the summer, but I couldn’t stand to look at it anymore. So get this, I got out my spray paint and sprayed the wreath white. (Yep…) The shrubs were free because we’d spent so much earlier this summer (on the backyard, post coming soon) that our nursery gave us a $200.00 gift certificate so I used a little bit of that.
Notice anything new over to the right???? Those would be some outdoor curtains! I talked about them earlier this summer, Drew & Sloan said curtains outside? Never doubt me family!
Tomorrow I’ll show you some finishing touches to the front porch!
