This past weekend I was able to give the foyer bench a little bit of a makeover. I’m not sure what I was thinking when I first recovered this little bench a few years ago and not sure why it took me so long to make it over, regardless it’s done.
Here is the before. I will say the reason I didn’t originally paint the bench was because I do like some wood in each room and not all painted pieces because then it looks too painty. (Fancy decorator term.)
Seriously ugh. For the after I used rustoleum’s black paint (I used an oil based paint, so it’s a little stinky so do it in a well-ventilated area and I also use a paint brush I can just throw out after since oil based paints are a pain to clean.) I also used some left over fabric from the dining room curtains. Now here is a little tip, because all the rooms on the main floor are pretty open to one another I like to use things like fabric in more then room. It makes the rooms flow in a subtle way.
I’m so happy I finally found some time to make the bench over! I’ll show you the completed foyer tomorrow!
I also wanted to mention that one of my favorite bloggers Emily Clark is hosting a link party and it’s all about using what you have which is totally what I’m all about as seen above with my bench! I showed off my most pinned piece of furniture on pinterest, the white secretary that’s been around longer then my husband!! There’s some neat ideas over there so check it out! I truly believe when your budget is limited is when you come up with the most creative solutions!
