Mixing Traditional and Casual Together

April 22, 2013

I’m probably like most everyone when asked to describe my style and say eclectic.  If I actually broke it down though it’s probably a mix of traditional and casual pieces.

My dining room is a perfect example of  mixing traditional and casual.

The dining room is definitely traditional but with the black and ivory paint and new chair upholstery it makes the dining room set a little less stuffy and a little less matchy match.

Even though my dining room is technically done (for now) I wasn’t completely happy with the sideboard area.  It was still a little bit too stuffy.

(Sorry the photo is a little blurry but you get the idea of what I’m talking about!)

While shopping at Target I spied these lamps from Target’s Threshold line and thought they would be perfect in the space and bring a little casual to the otherwise stuffy space.

I think they are just what I was looking for! I already owned the lampshades, which are also from Target.  (I may have a Target and lamp addiction!)

I also should add these Target lamps are very similar to West Elm’s linear blown glass lamp that cost $169.00.  My Target lamps cost $39.99.  Score right?!

I hope everyone’s week is off to a great start! I’m super busy and hoping to share with you some fun projects!
