I’ve been wanting a kitchen island for my kitchen for a few years now. Honestly, we’ve done absolutely nothing to our kitchen since moving in besides buying a Saarinen Tulip table couple of months. It’s my least favorite room in the house. Due to our current budget gutting it is not in the budget so I’ve decided to start making it look better with some DIY’s. As I dropped my daughter off on her first day of school this morning I eyed a small kitchen island on the curb waiting to be picked up by the garbage men. Once she was dropped off at school I drove back and found it was still there so yep I did it I totally garbage picked it!
For the most part it was in pretty good shape and I think the size will be perfect for our kitchen.
I think I’m going to take out the bottom of the cart and add slates, I’m also going to put on bigger wheels I think. Honestly I’m not entirely sure what to do with it. I’ve been in such a design brain freeze when it comes to my kitchen.
I’d really like to tear out the floors, counter, breakfast bar and add a pantry but like I said it’s about making do, which probably means painting the cabinets, adding a backsplash, new hardware and dare I say it painting the floors. Jenny from Little Green Notebook gave me the idea by painting her laundry room floor.
I did a little research online this morning and put together some images for inspiration on making over this little trash to hopefully treasure find!
If you’d like to see some of the images I pinned please feel free to check them out here!
I’m off to start the week! I hope you all had a great weekend!!!
