I’ve been working on our master bedroom for months, for some reason I just wasn’t feeling it. I think that’s normal for decorators/designers when it comes to their own homes. Or maybe I’m the only one!
The best decision I made this year was to not post as often and focus on quality and not quantity. When I stepped back I found I started to enjoy working on my home again and have been way happier with the results.
No joke I’ve been working on one wall at a time in our bedroom and for the first time ever the mess isn’t driving me insane. I know eventually it’ll be finished and I’ve been just enjoying the process. I’m finding by just spending time in the room the ideas are starting to flow. Seriously painting will do that! (I loathe painting!)
I knew I wanted the bedroom to flow with our master bathroom I finished a year ago and I knew I didn’t want to spend a lot of money but I wanted it to look like it did! (Everyone’s dream right?!) I am working with our existing furniture and no big pieces are being bought.
Look at how pretty the fabric is that I’m working with!
The moroccan wedding quilt was a big splurge that I bought on ebay almost a year ago with my birthday money! So when I say I didn’t want to spend a lot of money doesn’t’ mean I didn’t because I have, but it’s on items that were important to me.
Here are a few of the other items I’ve bought over the months. In order to buy many of the things for the room I’ve sold a few purses (my little addictive habit) and some painted pieces I had in the home that I decided to part with and put a little money aside each month.
I guess I’m being so frugal because as I’ve mentioned in other posts I’ve been doing a huge purge throughout our house. I’ve sold things, gave them away and donated so now I have a hard time spending money and even buying new things, especially since I’m not done getting rid of things. I’ve really been making it a point to do things for my home with a purpose in mind. Seriously I’m pretty embarrassed at the amount of things I’ve accumulated over time.
I have to admit I’m totally starting to get pumped about the room and can’t wait to show more soon!
