I can’t believe we’re in the last month of 2014. I have been super busy all year getting our house under control, meaning I have been letting go of a lot of material things that needed to go. I’ve been trying to make an effort to really think about the things I bring into the home.
I’ll be honest I’m not a huge fan of most of the items department stores sell for Christmas decorations, most seem cheaply made and sorta cheesy so instead of buying things I don’t really love just to decorate the house so I used what I had, bought greenery, cut greenery from our backyard and made a few items. Another thing I did was pack alot of my everyday items away to make way for the Christmas decorations so it doesn’t feel so cluttered.
I love the way our home turned out this year and am super excited for the holiday season!
So with that I’ll leave you with the photos!
My coffee filter snowflakes are my favorite thing on the tree this year! This year I just used glittery card stock initials for the stockings.
I made my Christmas pillows this year because I couldn’t find any that I really liked, or that weren’t crazy expensive. It was super easy. Hobby Lobby has a section of pillow covers that are super cheap, these were $4.50 and I just stenciled the words using fabric paint.
The birch container was .49 cents from Goodwill and the greenery is from our back yard. The birch candle is from Pottery Barn and the I strung the beads to put into the vase.
I bought a bag of trees half off from Michaels and while I usually keep like things together I scattered these trees all over the house.
My nativity scene was from a thrift store for .35 cents and was white, I sprayed it gold. The green moss candle is one of my favorite candles, I got it from a favorite store of mine called Haus Love. (This little vignette is the perfect example of mixing inexpensive with splurges.) Of course there’s a spray of greenery and one of my most prized possessions, my grandmother’s button jars.
So there you have it! It didn’t take a crazy amount of time and most important it won’t take long to take down!
