Every year I say I’m not going to change things up for the seasons and guess what??? Every year I do! Once I’m finished I’m glad I did it and honestly my 2 year old was so excited when he came downstairs I was reminded why I do it.
I don’t get carried away though and try to spend as little as possible. I also only decorate the main floor of the house. I grab the box I have in our storage area and go through it, if I’m not feeling something and decided not to put it out I put it in the donate pile. Let’s face it if I’m not going to use it this year I’m certainly not going to use it next year.
I clear all the tables off and start decorating. I pack away a ton of my everyday stuff. If I don’t it’s just way too much clutter for me.
It’s no surprise if you’ve read my blog I stick with natural elements, woods, succulents, flowers, real, dried and fake. Years ago I would’ve never used fake flowers but I’ve learned that if you mix them with real ones it looks really nice.
Obviously I stuck with the traditional fall colors. I bought a few new pumpkins, some silk flowers and real flowers, everything else I already had or grabbed from our yard. I spent about $40.00.
I thought these flowers were so neat. They are actually made of thin pieces of wood! The two books on the table are Sloan’s favorite Halloween book (My Momma Monster Loves Me So) when she was little and Cooper’s favorite Halloween book (Goodnight Goon).
Yea I gotta tell you all about this super score, Michael’s pumpkin spice candles are 4 for $10.00! Basic…yes! Do I care?? Heck to the no! I love the smell of pumpkin and I don’t feel guilty for burning these candles 24/7! (Not going to lie I’m a little stingy with my expensive candles!)
So there ya have it! It’ll stay this way for a few more weeks and then I’ll add a few scary pieces to the mix since my 2 year old is currently obsessed with ghhhooooossssttttssss! And yes, you have to say it like that! Thanks for sticking with me through all the photos!
If you’re still not done getting your fill of fall inspiration you can look at my pinterest board of fall designs or you can head over to Eclectically Vintage Fall Home Tour, which is my favorite place to get fall inspiration and what kicked me into to gear to decorate my house! It was crazy great this year!
I’m in the middle of decorating the front porch so hopefully I’ll get that up next week! Have a great weekend! Get this I’m going on college tours with my daughter!! Like seriously I can’t even!!
