Master Bedroom Closet Update (Progress – Part 2)

January 27, 2016

We are right in the middle of our new master bedroom closet makeover and I could not be more excited.  Yes I’m an organizational nerd!

This is a before photo looking into the closet.  (Notice the cat’s tail!)  The space is probably about 10 x 15.  I thought I had paired down a lot of our clothes but by the look of everything on our bed that is clearly not the case.

So where are we sleeping you ask? We are downstairs in the guest room that has 2 twin beds.  It’s totally like we are Dick and Laura on the Dick Van Dyke show or Ricky and Lucy on I Love Lucy!  (Do people in their 20’s or 30’s even know what shows I am talking about?) #oldladyalert

As you can clearly tell the wire shelves were really helping use the space like it should be used.  The beige paint made the space super dingy looking too.  That also could be because it’s builder’s grade paint and hasn’t been painted in 10 years.  (Don’t judge)  I painted it Pure White from Sherwin Williams.  Let me tell you this, for someone who loves to decorate her home I freakin’ hate painting, especially the ceilings, it’s especially hard with a 3 year old “helping”.  The lighting I picked is from Lowe’s.  Our ceilings are low so a couple chandeliers weren’t happening but I also didn’t want a plain builder’s grade boob (tee hee) light either.

After spending most of today in and out of the closet today I decided to add a few additional pieces from the Martha Stewart line.   The wardrobe extending rod so I can plan my outfit the night before and 3 of her laundry bins.  One for whites, one for darks and one for dry cleaning.  I decided to try this because our one bin was not working for us.  My husband forgets to leave his dry cleaning out for me to take to the cleaners so they usually end up forgotten in the laundry bin and besides sport socks, underwear and white t-shirts we are a dark clothes type of family. #blackandgrayforeverrrr  Having a separate bin will work easier than putting the whites back into the bin after taking them out and waiting until there is enough to wash.

Can you believe how much is done in just 1 day!  Whoot whoot!!  I’m hoping it’ll be finished up tomorrow and I can get to working putting the clothes back in!  If you have any questions about the project please feel free to ask.  Here are links and more information on the closet if you click here in case you’re curious!

Also thanks for sticking with all the ugly before pics…can’t wait to shoot the pretty ones!
