One Room Challenge – The Loft Makeover- Week 3

Welcome to Week Three of the Loft Makeover or what I like to call the pain in my rear space!  Last week I showed you this awful photo of a coffee table I had in the corner of our garage.  Today I’m showing off how pretty an unforgotten piece can be with a little love (and a lot of hot water and soap!)

I used Americana Decor chalk paint in Everlasting from Home Depot.  It’s very easy to use and it dries really quick.  I ended up giving the piece 3 light coats of paint.  After I was done painting I let it sit for a day.  Not because it was needed but because I got busy with other things! (:

The wax is super easy to apply.  I always think the key to making a project easier is good tools.  I really love this brush!  I got it at Michael’s.  (Make sure you use your coupon!)

I put 2 coats of Americana Decor Creme Wax on the table and waited a day between coats.  When I first started painting furniture I think one of my biggest mistakes was I didn’t wait long enough between coats because I was anxious to get it done and now my rule of thumb is usually to wait a day or even two and find other things to do because lets face it there is always things to do!  Especially when you’re working on the One Room Challenge right?

In case you want a more specific tutorial on how to paint with chalk paint here’s a good video tutorial here.

Can you believe the difference?  And let me just tell you I purchased the coffee table from the Goodwill Outlet for $6.00!

The next project I’m starting on is a dresser I plan on using to hold the television.  I’ve primed the piece and did a small makeover on some knobs.

Chalk paint also now comes in spray paint too!  I needed white knobs for my dresser (I still haven’t started on) and I had the same exact ones I needed except in green.  Two light coats of the chalk spray paint and check out the before and after!

The loft seems to be giving me some problems, granted first world problems but it is giving me a run for my money.  I finally did what I should of done when I first started planning the space and measured the (2nd) love seat I picked last week and it ended up being way too big.  I mean seriously how small is this space?  Soooo… I canceled the love seat and ended up buying this love seat below from Target.  I kinda like the idea of Cooper being able to just lay flat on it on his belly and watch television without the arms getting in the way.

I finished up the wood wall and I also painted all the banister railings that Coop decided to mark all over so again not another exciting week.  I’m hoping to get the flooring done and the bookcase done.

Honestly this is the first project that I feel like I’m literally figuring it out as I go!
