What I’m Loving

October 18, 2016

I thought it would be fun to share some things I’m currently loving/obsessing over at the moment.  I’m hoping to do this from time to time and I’d love for you to share with me things you’re loving too.

Watching:  Shameless on Netflix

This show is so addictive but I’ll warn you highly dysfunctional in the best possible way!  It takes place on the south side of Chicago and it’s about a family of 6 kids and their alcoholic father and bipolar mother.  I grew up about 50 minutes from downtown Chicago and my daughter goes to college downtown so it’s kinda cool that they stay so true to the city.

Reading: Living with Pattern: Color, Texture and Print at Home: Rebecca Atwood

I’ve been reading this book for almost a month now and I’m really liking it, it not only has beautiful images but it also has alot of information in it and I’m learning alot from it. I’m big on patterns and textures so this book is right up my alley.

Music:  Walls – Kings of Leon   Longtime fan (I took my daughter to see them as her first concert.)   It’s good and reminds me of their older stuff.  Really good lyrics, great vocals.

Beauty Product:  I have been a nail biter my entire life, I know its totally gross but if I’m going to be real I’m sure it has to do with the fact that I’m a nervous worrier with a dash of anxiety thrown in.  I stopped cold turkey this summer after reading this.  Another getting real moment I’m a bit obsessive about my teeth.

I’ve been treating myself to manicures this summer, sometimes I get them done by I also like doing them myself.  I love Essie Chocolate Cake polish for the fall!

Home Product:  Cool Mist Humidifier Ultrasonic Aroma Essential Oil Diffuser.  Seriously so obsessed!  It looks expensive, but it’s not (less than $35.00), it looks like wood, but it’s not!  It’s also bigger than I expected.  I’ve been using it in our bedroom and diffusing lavender on the 6 hour setting (it turns off automatically).  I also keep it on the dimmest white light so it illuminates the room just a little in case our son needs to come in our room at night.  The thing I like about it the most is it’s extremely quiet.

(There are 6 different lights you can use, and they can either be bright or dim, you can also chose not to use the light at all.)

Blog:  Jones Design Company – I read lots of blogs and go through phases of liking one more than the rest, probably due to whatever I’m relating to mostly at the time.  Emily sucked me in when her family traveled in their airstream this summer.  Her home is beautiful but not stuffy, our style are somewhat similar and she’s just comes off very real and honest. I like when woman can talk about their flaws or things that are weighing on them and how they try and better themselves.

Podcast:  I’ve mentioned her before in a previous post and I have added about 10-15 new podcast to my rotation but Jess Lively is still the podcast I listened to first when I get some alone time in my car or while I’m making dinner.  I’m a big believer in following your intuition and our family has been going through some big changes lately so her podcast has been helping me from going off the deep end and helping me believe to trust our current path that we are on and to go with the flow instead of pushing back.

Clothing:  I haven’t bought any clothes lately but I am loving my Hunter ankle boots.  I could never quite get into the original hunter boots that go up to almost your knee so these booties are perfect.  They are easy to put on and look super cute with my yoga pants and they don’t scream I’M WEARING RAIN BOOTS!!

Food:  Homeslice in Lincoln Park has the best breadsticks and goat cheese!  The breadsticks are beer basted served with a marinara goat cheese sauce!  I’m going to play around with the recipe to see if I can make it at home.  Stay tuned!

Item for my 4 year old son:  Marble Genius Marble Run.  No joke this is the first toy I’ve bought that my son will sit and play with for hours, like 4 hours at a time.  It not only keeps his little hands busy it also works his brain.  He loves making new cool paths for the marbles to travel.
