We’re just under 2 months until Christmas. If you’re a blogger or even just a reader you can’t help but feel the pressure to make your house look amazing. You start comparing yourself to others, it doesn’t matter what the circumstances you just do. I’m working on not doing that . I’ll let you know how that works out.
Once Christmas rolls around we’ll have been in our house 9 months. I have to admit I haven’t been kind to myself about the progress I’ve made so far. Honestly our house doesn’t quite feel like home to me yet. I think I’m going to put together a post to show you all that I’ve done but really just know it’s more for me to stop with my silliness.
My daughter is coming home from college for Christmas. We waited too long to decide if we were going to go home & see our extended family and now it’s like a million dollars. Needless to say we’re staying in Nevada and starting new traditions.
So as far as my Christmas decorating goes I’m not going too crazy. I’m not a multiple tree person. I’m not a color coordinated perfectly decorated tree girl. I like using natural elements. Rosemary, eucalyptus, cranberries and I scored big time by living in Nevada. Tahoe has the best pinecones! They’re as big as my head!
I’ve also made a rule that all my Christmas decorations can only fit into 2 rubbermaid bins. If it doesn’t fit I have to purge some things. With that said I still buy a few new things each year to add into the design. This year we had to buy a new tree and I ordered a flocked one from Walmart. I also picked up new stockings from Target’s Hearth & Hand collection from Magnolia. Our last stockings were about 5 years old and honestly I was just ready for a change. I’ll be using many of the items I’ve used in years past. I think it’s a great tradition to pull out items you use year after year.
So follow along while I navigate decorating our new house for Christmas. I’m going to show how you don’t have to break the bank. As you know the best way to follow along is on Instagram where I post pics and post even more stories!
