Christmas Front Porch

christmas front porch

Today I thought I’d show you my Christmas front porch! Honestly I didn’t do a ton this year. We bought our house back in April and I’ve been busy working on the main floor. We haven’t touched the exterior of the house yet.

We are completely new to living in Nevada. The houses are being sold quickly and the prices are continuing to go up. We did not want to wait a year before we purchased a home and did not want to spend money on a years rent in addition to paying $50,000 more for the same house.  Our home is in a new development and it is safe, there’s a pool and clubhouse and in a good school district. The house is a great starting point for us. However I don’t see us living here for more than 3-4 years before deciding on a long term home.

Knowing our plans I’m being careful about making smart decisions about the renovations and changes I make to the house. I’ll talk about those later for now I’ll show you the rest of what I’ve done this year.

I made the wreath myself. Super easy and did it while watching the RHOC. (Not super crazy about the love fest during their finale. LOL) Anyways I just used one of those cheap grapevine wreaths you can find anywhere. Then I stuck in fresh greenery, mainly types of eucalyptus and pinecones.

I bought a few real mini evergreen trees from Walmart. They were under $6.00. The mat is from Hearth & Hand. The olive basket was from an antique store but can be found at virtually any craft store, there are even a ton of them on Amazon. Here’s a super pretty one that looks old in just the right way. My candles were a steal. All 3 together were less than $10. I found them at a camp store while camping back in Indiana.

The previous owner left 3 large clay pots. Even better he had them hooked up to the sprinkler system. Finally my potted plants don’t die because I forgot to water them.  (Click here for the water irrigation system.) Life changing!

The wicker chairs are about 6 years old. I used to have them in our dining room at our old house. The pillow are from Etsy. They are also old and I used them in my backyard.

(Reminder if you’re shopping for Christmas gifts don’t forget to shop Etsy and support small businesses!)

The table is Nate Berkus from Target, 3 season ago I believe. The floral container is a must have from Ikea. That water pitcher moves all over my house!

I don’t plan on making a ton of changes outside next year but I think some much larger lights, a door with windows and shutters will for sure bring the house to the next level and help it stand out from the rest of the homes in the area! Any other tips I’d love to hear them!
